Tuesday 16th July 2019 – National Cherry Awareness Day
I absolutely adore fresh, juicy cherries, and as it is national Cherry awareness day on Tuesday i thought id take the opportunity to share a delicious cherry slush recipe, share some cherry facts and link you up with some cherry based activity sheets for the kids!
As well as being sweet and delicious, Cherries can actually help with getting a better night sleep, improving memory and are great for the immune system.
A perfect super-food for growing kids!
Just x10 Cherries count as 1 serving of fruit.
Did you know that Cherry farms in the UK are slowly dying out, with over 95% of our cherries now being imported from abroad!
UK cherries are typically in season in the UK between the months of May – August, so why not help our local farms and find a cherry picking farm near you and bring this fruit back to the UK trade!
This cherry slush recipe is a delicious, sweet, cooling summer drink that you and the kids are bound to love. Made with x3 ingredients only and ready in under 2 minutes!
Perfect for staying hydrated on hot summer days.
- 300g frozen / fresh pitted cherries
- 2 tbsp honey (to taste)
- 300g Ice cubes
- Place all ingredients into a food processor
- Pulse until slushy
- Pour into glasses
If you still cant get enough of all the cherry themed fun then this blog
